Dr. Jeanne Dixon, DOM
Jeanne started Desert Herbals, LLC in 1995 as a Western herbal clinic, and has expanded it to its present Western and Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture clinic.
Jeanne began her interest in healing as a child with her Grandmother's use of herbs, including the family "Aseptin" preparation of her migrating Swedish ancestors. After a degree and 12 year career in Chemistry (New Mexico Tech class of 1982), she changed direction and entered into her studies of western herbal medicine with Tieraona Low Dog, MD at Dr. Low Dog's school in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Low Dog taught her how to communicate with plant medicine, and helped Jeanne develop the compassion and critical thinking necessary to be an herbalist.
From there, she entered Oriental Medicine College and graduated in 2001 with degrees in Oriental Medicine and Massage Therapy from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine (IICM) in Albuquerque, NM. Jeanne is NCCAOM certified in Oriental Medicine and is currently is serving on the New Mexico Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
In 2013 she completed a internship at the Dalian TCM Hospital in Dalian, Liaoning, China, focusing on herbal medicine with Dr. Li YiJian. The intensive outpatient hospital experience with Dr. Li YiJian deepened her understanding of chinese herbs and formulations.
